  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ onion (minced)
  • 2 cups button mushrooms (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ cup pitted black olives
  • 1 pound puff pastry
  • Mustard (to taste)
  • 1 small egg (beaten)

Instructions

  1. Cut the beef into 1-inch pieces and season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over high heat; sear half the beef pieces until browned, about 1-2 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
  3. Sauté onions and mushrooms in the same skillet until softened, about 10 minutes. Stir in soy sauce and spices.
  4. Blend the mushroom mixture with olives in a food processor until smooth.
  5. Roll out puff pastry and cut into squares (3-3.5 inches).
  6. Assemble by spreading mustard on each square, adding mushroom filling and seared beef, then folding corners over the filling.
