  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl or stand mixer, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Add salt, oil, and two cups of flour; mix until combined. Gradually add more flour until forming a soft dough.
  3. Knead until smooth, then let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for one hour.
  4. Punch down the dough, divide into 16 pieces, and shape each into a bone by rolling and cutting slits on both sides.
  5. Place shaped breadsticks on a greased baking sheet; let them rise for another 45 minutes to an hour.
