  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup hot coffee
  • 2 cups shredded phyllo dough (finely chopped)
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup pistachio cream
  • 4 oz milk or semi-sweet chocolate bar
  • ½ cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add egg, vanilla extract, milk, and oil; mix until smooth. Stir in hot coffee.
  3. Bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool slightly.
  4. Toast kataifi and butter in a pan until golden brown; mix with pistachio cream.
  5. Melt chocolate with heavy cream until smooth.
  6. Assemble: Spread pistachio filling over the cake and drizzle with chocolate sauce. Garnish as desired.
